BIOGRAPHY

Rick Smith is an assignment photographer based out of the Lehigh Valley in northeast Pennsylvania, just outside of the NYC and Philadelphia metropolitan areas. For over 10 years, Rick has been photographing national assignments for the Associated Press, daily newspapers, editorial magazines, industry trade publications, corporations, colleges and universities. Rick specializes in large format photography using a wooden 8x10 view camera. His unique aproach has granted him access into the hearts of rugged young cowboys, weathered farmers, and most recently the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Rick attended the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts, and studied photogrpahy at The Art Institute of Philadelphia. After six years of blood, sweat, and happy tears, assisting editorial and fashion photographers in Philadelphia and NYC he switched gears and entered the world of photojournalism. Today, Rick continues to document his project work and accepts national and international assignments thoughout.
